Modeling of Reconfigurable Medical Ultrasonic Applications in BIP
نویسندگان
چکیده
Medical ultrasonic imaging applications require high quality of images produced in real-time often with limited resources available. Deadlock-freedom and confluency must be guaranteed to ensure the correctness of the applications, while feasibility and optimality properties are required to provide the best Quality of Service (QoS) within available resources. In this paper we introduce BIP (Behavior-Interaction-Priority) framework components as main building blocks to model such applications in a correct-by-construction manner. Based on those components we model a reconfigurable multi-mode processing pipeline for ultrasonic imaging that supports QoS management by topology reconfiguration. Finally, as a proof of concept, we present a simple quality controller as a well-triggered component, which when combined with the processing pipeline can manipulate the quality of image processing. 1998 ACM Subject Classification D.1.3 Concurrent Programming, D.2.11 Software Architectures, F.1.1 Models of Computation, F.3.1 Specifying and Verifying and Reasoning about Programs

Reconfigurable Ultrasonic Testing System Development Using Programmable Analog Front-End and Reconfigurable System-on-Chip Hardware
Ultrasonic testing systems have been extensively used in medical imaging and non-destructive testing applications. Generally, these systems aim at a particular application or target material. To make these systems portable and more adaptable to the test environments, this study presents a reconfigurable ultrasonic testing system (RUTS), which possesses dynamic reconfiguration capabilities. RUTS...
متن کاملModeling Dynamic Architectures Using Dy-BIP
Dynamic architectures in which interactions between components can evolve during execution, are essential for modern computing systems such as web-based systems, reconfigurable middleware, wireless sensor networks and fault-tolerant systems. Currently, we lack rigorous frameworks for their modeling, development and implementation. We propose Dy-BIP a dynamic extension of the BIP component frame...
متن کاملReconfigurable Ultrasonic Smart Sensor Platform for Nondestructive Evaluation and Imaging Applications
In this chapter, a Reconfigurable Ultrasonic Smart Sensor Platform (RUSSP) for real-time signal analysis and image processing is presented. The RUSSP is designed to facilitate the development and implementation of ultrasonic signal processing algorithms with embedded software and reconfigurable hardware. It provides the opportunity to explore the full design space including software only, hardw...
متن کاملDynamic-field devices for the ultrasonic manipulation of microparticles.
The use of acoustic radiation forces in lab-on-a-chip environments has seen a rapid development in recent years. Operations such as particle sieving, sorting and characterisation are becoming increasingly common with a range of applications in the biomedical sciences. Traditionally, these applications rely on static patterns of ultrasonic pressure and are often collectively referred to as ultra...
متن کاملNew Advances in Reconfigurable Computing and its Applications
In this work we present a survey of different papers about reconfigurable computing and its applications. These papers treat very different reconfigurable-computing applications: cryptography, computer vision, SOPC, microprocessor architecture, self-timed circuits, sensor systems, detection of ultrasonic emissions, FPGA compilation aspects (like data-dependent loops), and motion estimation. As ...
